Best Editing Apps for IG Posts

'Aesthetically pleasing'

What apps do you use to edit? How do you get your Instagram feed like that? What filter do you use?
All questions i have frequently been asked a lot in the past so i thought i'd share my favourite editing apps with you. Playing around with new editing apps is my guilty pleasure & as a photographer i'm always learning new techniques in order to achieve an 'aesthetically pleasing' Instagram feed, that consists of sharp, crisp images. (& yes i edit all my images on my iPhone)

1. #VSCOCAM

Without fail, VSCO is the ultimate go-to app when it comes to editing.
A huge range of filters & editing components that allow you to adjust exposure to clarity to saturation... i even use VSCO to edit my photoshoots.

My top 3 filters would be - A5, A6 & HB3

TIP: Sticking to the same editing techniques and filters will help you establish a colour coordinated theme on your IG. Your own aesthetics!

Favourite tools:
Clarity - Somewhat making the image a higher quality by defining the image
Exposure - Adjusting the lighting to the right levels
Temperature - Balancing tones in the image, making sure its not too warm (orange) or not too cold (blue)

2. #SNAPSEED

Snapseed is more of the 'final touches' to my images. Not always necessary.
But perhaps you wanted to only enhance a certain area of the image, then this is the app for you.
Snapseed allows you to increase/decrease exposure/saturation/temperature of an image with brush strokes to your desired area, rather than applying it to the whole image like VSCO does.

My favourite tools & techniques :

Dodge + Burn - Making desired areas of the background lighter/darker. (more contrast)
Saturation - Subtracting orangeness of the image in order to stick with my colour scheme
Vignette - Closing light around the image to enhance focus on the subject

3. #UNUM

An amazing app for you IG obsessors, my close friend Avi introduced me to not too long ago.
Perfect for those of you who spend a lot of time on their Instagram like i do, welcome to your very own visual Instagram planner! This is a visual grid that allows you to drag & drop, up and coming images you intend to post by visualising what it'll look like before hand on your feed - before dropping the real deal on IG.

This helped me achieve my aesthetics big time by helping me visualise what images should go where in order to compliment my visual feed of images.

I hope these apps help you achieve your idea of a perfect Instagram feed.
